Montrose use to have five general stores, two hardware
stores, one millinery store, one harness shop, one meat market, three
warehouses, one hotel, one lumber yard, two livery stable, two land loan
offices, one flower mill, and one newspaper office. Montrose’s population was
200. Montrose now has one general store, one gas station, and one diner.
Montrose’s population is 471. Montrose has grown in population but has shrunk
in small town businesses. Seeing that this many businesses use to be here may
be a surprise, but it doesn’t seem like it was a bad thing! We all know The Rock used to be a bank, and then
another place to eat. Who knows, maybe next it can be a movie theater!
