Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture that is carved
into the Black Hills region of South Dakota. It host over three million
visitors a year from all over the world. It took fourteen years to carve the
sculpture with the help of four-hundred men. The project was nearly one million
dollars.
Faces carved in the memorial are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The original plan was to carve the bodies down to their waist in the sculpture that is why George Washington has shoulders. The presidents on the sculpture were chosen for their significant contribution to the founding, expansion, preservation, and unification of the the country.
